HANDICRAFT
Batam State SLB students’ handicrafts are unique and have economic value. Limitations are not a barrier for someone to work. Those who have disabilities don’t mean they can’t do anything. This is evidenced by the people with disabilities in the Batam State SLB. They turned out to be adept at making handicrafts that were unique and had economic value. There are many forms of handicrafts by Batam State SLB students, one of which is by utilizing waste that is transformed into a variety of beautiful unique items that can generate rupiah coffers. One of his works is decorative sandals. They decorate sponge flip-flops using patchwork, cloth flowers or attach other decorations. The result is a flip-flops shape that was originally ordinary to be more beautiful and attractive and has high economic value.
SLB Negeri Batam always strives to provide educational services both academically and non-academicly for students with special needs. In meeting the needs and supporting the self-development of students with special needs, of course, meaningful involvement is needed between schools, parents/families and the community. Batam State SLB establishes partnerships with parents/families and the community through the Tri Center of Education which was initiated by our Father of Education, Ki Hajar Dewantara so that education for children with special needs runs optimally.
